TN protesters Burns Effigies of Sri Lankan President & Army Chief

Chennai: Scores of Ponneri Nagar people organizations such as, Youth Revolutionary Organization, Backward People Liberation Organization, and Revolutionary Workers organizations organized protest march in Chennai and burnt the effigies of the Sri Lankan President, Mahinda Rajapaksa and his Army Chief Sarath Fonseka for calling the Tamil Nadu political leaders are ‘corrupt political jokers’.

Hundreds of protesters carried the effigies of both the Sri Lankan president and army chief in coffins from the old bus stand in Ponneri to new bus stand only to burn those demanding unconditional apologies from both Sri Lankan president and army chief for his ‘derogatory’ remarks.

TN chief minister, M. Karunanidhi, PMK leader Dr. Ramadoss, MDMK General Secretary Vaiko Gopalsamy, VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan, TN, CPI Secretary D. Pandiyan and many other leaders were furious and outraged by the ‘derogatory’ remarks on them by the Sri Lankan army chief and they all angrily reacted and demanded Center to take many punitive measures against the army chief. The Army chief’s tongue-lashing on the TN politicians brewing into major storm in TN and many agitations are taking place all over TN.

The protesters demanded that Indian Central government bring the Cease Fire immediately in Sri Lanka, and they urged center to stop the killings of Tamils. The protesters are demanding following requests.

Many parties in Tamil Nadu with the support of TN masses are brewing with anger over the army chief’s tongue-lashing and calling the Tamil Nadu political leaders as ‘corrupt political jokers’ are conducting protests, rallies, effigies burning protests in Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu IT Engineering and Technical professionals in support of Eelam Tamils is to conduct a famine protest in Chennai on December 13.

Eelam Tamils are dying every day, even the schools going Tamil children are not spared by the Sri Lankan forces military operations against them and Sri Lanka is totally disregards the International law of ‘war crimes against humanity’ carrying out daily land, sea and air bombing and shelling on 327,000 internally displaced people including 40,000 children in Vanni, we cannot allow these heinous crimes to continue against our brethrens in Eelam, one of the organizer of the planned agitation told TNS.
