Sri Lanka: SF fires Shells at Killinochchi Hospital; Shells Injures 3 Children from the same Family
Killinochchi: Heavy barrages of shells were fired by the government forces on the Killinochchi government hospital on Tuesday evening between 3:50 to 4:00 p.m. Initial reports reaching the TNS says the hospital building was damaged in the shelling. A telecommunication centre located 300 meters south of Killinochchi hospital was badly damaged in the shelling by the government forces Tuesday morning.
On Christmas Day also the Killinochchi hospital was targeted in the Sri Lankan Security Forces’ shelling which damaged three hospital buildings. Glass panes of the New-born nursing section for mothers, Outpatients Department, and the Hospital Reception building were damaged in the attack. Sri Lankan Security Forces (SF) has been violating international norms in targeting hospital serving the critical needs of war affected people, said a local aid worker in Vanni.

Meanwhile, Shells fired by SF in Vadamarchy east LTTE held area from rear base of the Nagar Kovil SF position, five civilians were badly injured including 3 children from the same family.
The indiscriminate shelling by the SF children were Injured, Uthayakumar Raju (08), Uthayakumar Mathiyalagan (05) and Uthayakumar Uthaya (02).
Vadamarachy East, Kadaikadu and Nithiyaveddai civilians’ settlements area were targeted today by the Sri Lankan SF, and shells were fired from 1:45 p.m in addition the Sri Lankan Air Force (SLAF) bombers flown sorties against the civilians’ settlements in Mulaitivu and Killinochchi area and many houses were damaged and many livestock also killed in the attacks.
Recently a government official told TNS that civilians escaping the artillery and aerial attacks in Mullaitivu and Killinochchi area fleeing further deep into LTTE heal area as opposed to government controlled area.
Raging fighting between the LTTE and SF in the Vanni area made 327,000 civilians internally displaced including 40,000 children according to the UN agency and these people are living under the trees, schools, churches and many other temporary shelters with limited or no access food, medicines and basic essentials and heavy flooding onsets of rain adding to their vows, sources further added.
