(Updated) Sri Lanka: SLAF Bombs Kills 4 Injures 17 in Paranthan

Killinochchi: The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) held area of Paranthan – Mulaitivu road area in a civilians’ settlement came under aerial attacks from the Sri Lankan Air Force (SLAF) on Wednesday morning at 8:00 a.m. The SLAF attack killed four civilians and injured 17 others including a couple, according to the Tharmapuram hospital sources. Dr. Sthaiyamoorthy from Killinochchi hospital was put at red alert on the blood shortage.

The day was turned into another disastrous day for these twenty one civilians including to a couple who were victimsed in the SLAF bombardment.

The wounded civilians, admitted at the hospital, were identified as I. Nirmalan, 15, S. Ragulan, 21, Selvarajah Kulendran, 33, K. Jeyasri, 38, Somasundaram Chandrakumar, 43, Annakkodi Chandramary, 45, Vellaichamy Annakkodi, 49, S. Balasundaram, 51, Palaniayappan Subramaniyam, 52, Chandrabose, 52, Ranjithamalar, 58, and Saravana Bavananthan, 62. Some houses were also completely burnt down in the SLAF attacks in the area.

Sri Lanka is bent on pressing for a military victory over the Tamil Tigers and since 1972 the conflict has left at least eighty thousands people dead. Sri Lanka has been pronounced by media rights activists and rights groups as the most dangerous place in the world for journalists and aid workers to work.
