Human remains recovered in Batticaloa

Kaaththaankudi police on Saturday evening recovered a fertilizer bag with human remains from an abandoned land close to the office of the Department of Irrigation in Kalladi in Batticaloa district.

Police said a group of boys first noticed that something is buried in the land while they were playing there.

Government could not win the Tamil people – Mavai Senadhirajah

TNA parliamentarian Mavai Senadhirajah says the results of the Jaffna Municipal Council election showed that the government could not win the votes of the Tamil people even after maximum usage of the state machinery.

The parliamentarian said that while only 18%-26% of the 100,417 registered voters exercised their franchise at the Jaffna Municipal Council election, it was a clear indication of the Tamil people’s rejection to the holding of an untimely election.
