12 Sri Lankan armed personnel killed in ambush in Trincomalee: LTTE

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) officials claimed that at least 12 Sri Lankan armed personnel were killed and more than 6 wounded in a Claymore and gunfire ambush in Trincomalee at 8:50 a.m. today (Friday). The Tigers said the ambush was carried out targeting a tractor carrying armed personnel from Pankulam to Muthalikkulam (Morawewa).

Muthalikkulam is located along Trincomalee-Anuradhapura, about 23 km north of the east port city, where a main camp of the Sri Lankan Air Force (SLAF) is currently located.
 
Meanwhile, Sri Lankan military sources in Colombo said three personnel of SLAF and four civilians have sustained injuries in the ambush.
