(2nd Update) Heavy Fighting Between Tamil Eelam Navy and Sri Lankan Navy in Mullaitivu
Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), Sea Tigers and the Sri Lankan Navel forces (SLN) clashes off the coast of Mullaiththeevu, theLTTE sinking a two of the Arrow boats which were part of the 15 boats Navy convey including a Super Dvora Fast Attack Craft on Friday 10:00 a.m, LTTE officials told media.
A flotilla of Sea Tigers intercepted a convoy of 15 SLN vessels in Mulaiththeevu coast. Fierce sea battle ensued. Two arrow boats were sunk by Sea Tigers and Sea Tigers returned to their bases without any losses, according to the LTTE. According to the initial report there were many SLN casualties and details are yet to emerge from either sides.
Sri Lanka continues with its military options amid the warning from the International community and many rights groups. The International Community repeatedly urging both parties to find a negotiated settlement to the genuine grievances of the minority.
A catastrophic situation developed in Vanni for these innocent civilians as they are facing annihilation as indiscriminate land, sea, and air attacks on them by the Sri Lankan forces in 400 sq miles Mulaitivu area daily. These people facing severe shortages of food, medicines, drinking water and other basic necessities in this area as severe blockade was imposed upon by the state on them for past many months, an IDP representative said.
