Government moving towards military government – Tissa Athanayake
United National Party General Secretary Tissa Athanayake stated, government is interfering in all the sectors of the country, and it is proceeding like a military government. He mentioned that obtaining prior permission two weeks before to conduct public functions from the Defense Ministry, is a violation of fundamental rights. This totally establishes, that the government is moving towards a military government was stated by him.
In the cover of national defense, the future struggles, protests and activities against the government are to be ceased was mentioned by him. Such actions are a shameful act for democracy was stated by Tissa Athanayake.
UNP General Secretary stated that eventhough A9 road is opened the road connecting to Colombo Harbour is closed down at 6.00 p.m. Many roads at Hambantota and Wellawaya are closed due to security reasons was pointed out by him. Meanwhile United National Party Member Rangey Bandara stated Pillaiyan and Karuna Amman had direct contacts towards the attacks at Dalaga Maligawa, the brutal murders of Aranthalawa Bhikkus and Sri Mahabodhi attack, for which they should be prosecuted.
