Sri Lankan State Terrorism On Tamil Eelam: 4100 killed and 8800 wounded in 3 months

In the last 3 months, Sri Lankan Army’s (SLA) indiscriminate aerial and shell attacks along with gunfire killed over 4100 innocent civilians and injured more than 8800 according to the reports. It is to be noted that all of these killings took place in the so-called “safety zone” and the death count includes several 100s of children.

Most of the injured ones are least likely to survive due to lack of medical supplies and food. Even those who managed to flee the war zone are under enormous torture in the so called detention camps formed by SLA. Several hundreds of women were tortured and sent to military hospitals to “serve” the injured soldiers’ “needs”; and thousands of young men disappeared – most likely to be executed by the SLA.

In the mean time, SLA has moved all its firepower towards the safety zone to continue the systematic genocide in the name of “war against terrorism”. It is estimated that around 330,000 civilians are still in the “safety zone”. Children dying in large numbers and injuring in large numbers are sure to leave long time scars in their minds of the Tamil community at large and Sri Lanka has to live with the consequences for very many years and decades to come. It is so unfortunate, there is no statement ship emerges from Sri Lanka to guide the country to the lasting peace with the solution satisfying the minority Tamil community, said a local aid worker in Vanni.
