More time needed to resettle IDPs ‐ Rohitha Bogollogama

RohithaBogollagamaMinster Rohitha Bogollogama stated more time was needed than what was originally estimated by the government to settle the IDPs. He added even though initially the government was looking at resettling at least 80% of the people in the 180 days plan, now it was only possible to settle 60%.

Minster Rohitha Bogollogama said people cannot be resettled without clearing the landmines which was getting delayed and reassuring the security. Earlier Srilanka assured India and the international community that resettlement would be done in 180 days. This statement from Minster Rohitha Bogollogama comes at a time when India has been insisting on speeding up the resettlement process.
