Mud slinging campaign to prevent Sarath Silva contesting in Presidential election

A senior official at the Justice Ministry told , a massive state sponsored mud-slinging campaign has been launched against former Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva and his associates due to the fear harbored by the Rajapakses that he would contest as the common candidate of the opposition at the next presidential election.

As part of the campaign leaflets carrying stories against Silva and his close associate, former Judicial Services Commission Secretary, Chandra Jayathileka are being sold at the Aluthkade court premises.

Chief Justice Ashoka De Silva has received a large number of complaints alleging the misuse of power and other offences by many judges affiliated to Silva. De Silva it is learnt has decided to appoint a committee comprising three Supreme Court judges to inquire into the complaints. However, 99% of the petitions received about the alleged misdeeds of the judges are anonymous.

Meanwhile, information reveals that Mahinda group had seeks help from Indian ‘RAW’ agency, in dealing the complaints alleging towards Silva.
