TNA will appoint a Muslim to Jaffna MC – Sri Kantha
Jaffna district Tamil National Alliance parliamentarian N. Sri Kantha said yesterday that a Muslim member would be appointed in due course, to the Jaffna Municipal Council by his party.
He was responding to a question by Daily Mirror whether his party was going to keep the promise it gave the Muslim IDPs in Puttalam, that, if no Muslim candidate from the party won at the Jaffna Municipal Council elections, an elected Tamil member would be replaced by a Muslim.
“We have to work for the unity of Muslims who were expelled by the LTTE from Jaffna,” he added. Meanwhile, TNA General Secretary Mavai Senadirasa said that the appointment of a Muslim member to the Jaffna Municipal Council was not a decision of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA).
“It was said by one of our Parliamentarians” he said.
