Arrest of KP was a result of a long term plan ‐ Gotabhaya Rajapakse

Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapakse says the arrest of Kumaran Padmanadan alias KP was a result of a long term plan with the Sri Lankan government focusing attention on dismantling the LTTE on the international level as well, following the killing of the LTTE leader.

The Defence Secretary told state radio the intelligence and security divisions were monitoring information regarding KP since the beginning. He said that following interrogations KP has divulged information on the worldwide LTTE network.

Mr. Rajapakse said the LTTE was emerging as a powerful organization which could create an impact even on affluent states in the world. He went on to say Sri Lanka is maintaining the prudent policy of disassociating from the traditional practice of conducting relations only with western countries. Sri Lanka’s dealings with countries beyond the western world, has helped to achieve many victories, he told state radio.
