EPC Chief Minister, ministers write to President demanding removal of Governor
Eastern Provincial Council (EPC) Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan and four other provincial ministers are learnt to have sent a petition to President Mahinda Rajapakse demanding the removal of Governor Mohan Wijewickrema immediately, according to sources in EPC.
They have also requested the President to replace him with a person to be supportive of power devolution.
In the petition to the President they complained that the incumbent Governor who does not support devolution of power has been poking nose into the affairs of the council, intentionally undermining the elected members.
The relation of the elected administration of the Eastern Provincial Council with the Provincial Governor has deteriorated fast and is learnt to have reached its lowest ebb.
