UNDP REGIONEL CENTRE IN COLOMBO CLOSED DOWN

According to reports the UNDP Regional Centre in Colombo has been authorized by United Nation Secretary General Ban Ki Moon to close down. A United Nation spokesperson said an announcement has been made in New York a while ago, that Ban Ki Moon has recalled the United Nations Resident Coordinator, Neil Buhne, to New York for consultations

The UN Spokesperson had informed that Ban Ki Moon had said that he cannot accept that the Sri Lankan government authorities have failed to prevent the disruption of the normal functioning of the United Nations offices in Colombo, due to the disorderly protests organized and led by a Sri Lankan Government Cabinet Minister. Further the Secretary General Ban Ki Moon had urged the Sri Lankan government to maintain its responsibilities towards the UN as host country, to perform the vital work of the organization without any obstacles to assist the people of Sri lanka.
