NSA Narayanan met Karunanidhi again to discuss on Sri Lankan Tamils

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi Sunday met Indian National Security Advisor M K Narayanan for the second time and understood to have discussed the Sri Lankan Tamils issue.

Mr Narayanan, who had met Karunanidhi last night and discussed the Sri Lankan issue, called on him again this morning at his residence here and held nearly half-an-hour long closed door talks, party sources said.

Indian envoys in Sri Lanka

menonnarayanThe Indian Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon and National Security Advisor RK Narayanan have arrived in Sri Lanka for high level talks, diplomatic sources said Wednesday.

The two senior officials landed at the Bandaranaike International Airport Wednesday evening. India has sent US$ 100 million aid package also to be distributed to the IDPs. Both MK Narayanan and Menon had held talks with the chief minister of Tamil Nadu M. Karunanidhi before leaving for Colombo.

NDTV had wrongly interpreted.  “Prabhakaran is my good friend. I am not a terrorist,” the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister told NDTV in an interview when asked whether he viewed Prabhakaran as a terrorist. Law will deal with Vaiko’s Tiger comments – Rahul

India’s Congress party General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, son of Rajiv Ghandi, told reporters in Kochi the law will take its own course on comments made by Vaiko on the LTTE. Vaiko, a Tamil Nadu politician, had said there will be a bloodbath in India if LTTE leader Prabakaran is horrored. Rahul said he does not like the LTTE because they assassinated his father and noted that innocent Tamils should not be harmed in Sri Lanka.

Three days after he said that LTTE leader Prabhakaran should be treated with dignity if arrested by Lankan forces, Chief Minister and DMK president M Karunanidhi said that a solution to the Sri Lankan Tamils problem could not be found till now because the outfit had adopted ‘wrong ways’ going by the ‘wrong advice’ of some people in the State. In a statement here, he said, ‘a solution to the Sri Lankan Tamils problem could not be found yet because the LTTE had acted in wrong ways, heeding to the wrong advice of the wrong people in Tamilnadu.’
