Human Rights Council, Professor Boyle, expert in International Law and Professor at the University of Illinois College of Law, says this would be the same “as if the U.N. Human Rights Council had invited the Nazi government to investigate and prosecute itself for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes against the Jews instead of supporting the Nuremberg Charter and Tribunal.”

‘Most appalling’ Ban remarks on IDP camps in Sri Lanka

After visiting a displacement camp in Sri Lanka on Saturday and flying over the site of the last battle in the country’s recently ended civil war, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called the sites “appalling.”

“I have traveled around the world and visited similar places, but this is by far the most appalling scenes I have seen,” Ban told CNN. “I sympathize fully with all of the displaced persons.”

Amid calls for war crimes probe against its military for its conduct during the campaign to eliminate the LTTE, Sri Lanka on Saturday said US and British troops will have to be hauled before tribunals first if any charges are brought against its armed forces.

The remarks came a day after President Mahinda Rajapaksa accused unnamed foreign elements of trying to stop the military offensive “by threatening to haul us before war crimes tribunals” and declared that he was even ready “to go to the gallows” for defeating the Tamil rebels.

The second picture shown by Lankan media is more younger than the first picture which was taken on 26th November 2004. How is it possible to be become younger after 5 years.  In 2004 Maaveerar Day picture, Prabakaran had some wrinkled skin. But in the video the face is too young and without wrinkles.

More than 30,000 protestors spilled out to stage a sit-down protest at the south east corner of Parliament Square at its junction with Whitehall and Bridge Street. Demonstrators have broken through police lines and are blocking roads around Parliament. More people are joining in.  Thousands of Tamil demonstrators demanding an immediate ceasefire blocked streets outside parliament today, Monday, as soon as they heard the mass killing in Vanni. Close to thousands were killed from midnight to noon today. Casualty figure expected to rise rapidly as the war continues. More than 4000 Tamils are chanting against Sri Lanka and calling to end the war immediately.
